9/12/18 Chapter Dinner – SOCCER CITY

On November 6th, two proposals are on the ballet for San Diego voters for the redevelopment of the former Chargers stadium site (Soccer City or SDSU West).

SoccerCity spokesperson Nick Stone will present their plan to transform the site into a world class venue. Complete with a state of the art stadium for a new Major League Soccer team and Aztecs Football, more than 60 acres of parks and the beautification of the San Diego River, an Entertainment District with retail and restaurants, housing & research space, infrastructure improvements, recreation fields for the community and a Soccer Academy to further develop the talent of our local kids.

May 9th Chapter Dinner – Guest Speaker is Kevin Gould of the California Bankers Association (CBA)

Program: Overview of the California 2018 legislative agenda and pending Measures. Kevin Gould joined the California Bankers Association (CBA) in 2004, bringing with him more than seven years of legislative experience. In his role as senior vice president and director of state government relations, he oversees the management and operation of CBA’s state government relations department and also serves as one of CBA’s three registered lobbyists. Gould’s advocacy responsibilities and issues focus mainly in the areas of bank operations, commercial lending, residential property lending, and wealth and asset management issues. Mr. Gould oversees CBA’s State Government Relations Committee and internal policy committees, who provide expertise and directives that guide the priorities of the association’s state government advocacy program. Mr. Gould is a member of the 2009 graduating class of the Pacific Coast Banking School.

Cindy Gompper-Graves is currently the President and CEO for the South County Economic Development Council where she has led the South County in economic efforts over the past 14 years. Ms. Gompper-Graves’s goals are to foster economic prosperity in the South County through job creation, encouraging financial investments and marketing.

November Dinner Meeting – Dev Strischek, Principal, Devon Risk Advisory Group

A frequent speaker, instructor, advisor and writer on credit risk and commercial banking topics and issues, Dev is principal of Devon Risk Advisory Group after retiring from SunTrust Bank in Atlanta where he served as senior credit policy officer. Prior to SunTrust, Dev was chief credit officer for Barnett Bank’s Palm Beach market. Besides stints at other banks in Florida, Kansas City, and Ohio, Dev’s experiences outside of banking include CFO of a Honolulu construction company, combat engineer officer in the U.S. Army, and college economics instructor in Hawaii, Missouri, and Florida. A graduate of Ohio State University and the ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking, he earned his M.B.A. from the University of Hawaii.
